Abstract: Have you ever wondered why we have the electoral college? Why would California like to abolish it whereas North Dakota wants to keep it going? It all has to do with power (who has it, who doesn't have it, and how to keep it that way). We will discuss power in voting systems using a Power index created by a lawyer to describe the balance of power in the house of representatives and hence in the electoral college.
