Brief biography of Professor Douglas R. Anderson, Concordia College Doug Anderson graduated summa cum laude with a degree in mathematics from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, where he was a two-time Academic All-American in cross country and track. In 1989 he was awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Following two and a half years of teaching English in Japan, he received a Master's degree and a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In 2003 he was tenured and promoted to associate professor at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, where he was named the faculty-wide Ole and Lucy Flaat Distinguished Scholar from 2004-2006. He has authored or co-authored over 50 publications in refereed mathematical journals; these papers have been co-authored with 25 different mathematicians from 7 different countries. In addition to teaching, he has served as faculty adviser for Habitat for Humanity Spring Break trips to Texas, Florida, and Mississippi, and as adviser for the Concordia Cycling Club trip to Duluth. He has taken over 100 students on Concordia's unique Math May Seminar to Egypt, Greece, Italy, Switzerland, Paris, and London. He currently serves as chair of the department of mathematics and computer science at Concordia.
