Abstract: The Hedgehog Theorem (or Hairy Ball Theorem) says that the 2-sphere does not admit a nowhere-vanishing continuous tangent vector field. In other words, you cannot comb a hedgehog. I will discuss the meaning and proof of this result as well as nontrivial applications to algebra.
