Abstract: We will describe some mathematical aspects of sudoku matrices, that is, matrices that occur as solutions of sudoku puzzles. In particular, we will discuss the problem of counting the number of distinct sudoku matrices and the question of the possible values for the trace, determinant, and eigenvalues of sudoku matrices.
